Second graders honored for environmental efforts in Beatrice

Students participated in the Great American Cleanup recycling program

BEATRICE – Eight elementary school students in Beatrice have been recognized for their efforts to clean up the local environment.

The students became “Mayors for a Day” at Monday night’s Beatrice City Council meeting…for their work in the Great American Cleanup Recycling Project, held April 12th to the 21st

The second graders from public and private schools were winners of Certificates of Appreciation from Keep Beatrice Beautiful and the City.  They also earned gift cards and coupons from Runza Restaurant and East Court Dairy Queen.

Mayor for a Day winners included….

  • Lincoln Elementary School second graders, Lyric Barnhouse, Bryce Bartak and Charlotte Hain
  • Paddock Lane Elementary students Luke Kolm, Mary Reed and Nova Weirs
  • Joseph Catholic School second grader Sidney Davis….and
  • Paul’s Lutheran School second grader, Neely Shaffer
