BEATRICE – A police officer checking a report of people inside an abandoned Beatrice house, arrested one of them. An officer was sent to the structure in the twelve-hundred block of North 10th during the noon hour, Monday.

Upon arriving, the officer observed several people run out the back of the house, but was able to chase down one male and detain him.
The officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana and observed a pipe in the man’s hoodie front pocket. The officer also located a moonshine jar half full of apple pie moonshine in a backpack worn by the man. Police identified him as 19-year-old Austin Rhoden, of Beatrice.

A Police sergeant had also detained two other persons who had run to the front of the house. One was a 14-year-old runaway…the other was a female with a protection order against Rhoden.

Police said the house is posted with the words, Private Property No Trespassing.

Rhoden was arrested for 1st-degree trespassing, a protection order violation, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and being a minor in possession of alcohol.
