Fairbury woman selected as member of the Southeast Community College Board of Governors

BEATRICE – A Fairbury woman will become the next member of the Southeast Community College Board.

Vicki Haskell will represent District One, which includes Gage, Jefferson, Saline, Thayer, York and Seward Counties and the southwest area of Lancaster County.

She was selected by the SCC Board of Governors following interviews of four finalists Tuesday night, at the Beatrice Campus.

Haskell will take the seat vacated by Sandra Hoffman of Beatrice, who resigned her position after having been elected, running unopposed last November.  Board member Dr. Dale Kruse of Beatrice opted not to seek reelection.

Haskell is the Vice-Chairperson of the Jefferson County Board of Adjustment and serves on the Governing Board of the Blue Rivers Area Agency on Aging.  She was appointed Deputy Jefferson County Assessor in 2004, and then elected as County Assessor in 2010.  She also served on the Jefferson County Zoning and Planning Commission.

Haskell will be sworn in as a new SCC Board member, April 18th.

Other finalists included Monte Murkle of Clatonia, a farmer and former Gage County Planning and Zoning Commission member who also served on the Clatonia Township Board.

Jack Roegner of Davenport was also a finalist…and is the membership chairman of the Prairie Winds District which includes Thayer, Jefferson, Fillmore, Saline, Seward and York Counties.  He’s also President of the Davenport Public Library Association.

Michael Schoop, of Milligan, the current President of the Hebron Area Chamber of Commerce was also a finalist for the SCC District One board position.
