Icy temperatures to remain for a couple of days
Most areas in eastern Nebraska saw one to two inches of overnight snow

BEATRICE – The good news is, there’s no longer a winter storm warning for much of eastern Nebraska. The bad news……the wind chill warning is expected to stay in place, until noon on Saturday.
Residents woke up to bone chilling cold, strong winds and blowing snow, Thursday morning. Most areas have seen one to two inches of snow, with isolated amounts of up to three inches. Wind chills in southeast Nebraska were 30-degrees below or colder…..while some areas of south-central Nebraska had wind chills diving to as low as minus-45, according to the National Weather Service.
Much of western and northwest Iowa remained in a blizzard warning today, through early Friday evening.
Patchy blowing snow across many areas of the central plains is expected to continue to significantly reduce visibility for travelers, and slippery roads remain a concern. The snow is being pushed by 30-to-45 mile per hour gusts, from the northwest.
Temperatures are expected to improve on Christmas Day…with highs in the mid-20s for southeast Nebraska…..and near 32 on Monday. Conditions continue to improve toward the middle of next week, with readings around 40 to 45.
