MARYSVILLE, Kan. -- A Kansas man accused of murdering his wife will be in court next week.

Gerald Brown has a preliminary hearing Monday in Marshall County, Kan., just south of the Nebraska border.

Brown is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Jennifer Brown.

Police said they were called to the couple's home early Thanksgiving morning on a report where a man said his wife needed medical assistance.

When police arrived, court records said they found Jennifer dead from a gunshot wound.

After an investigation, Gerald was taken into custody.

He's being held on a $1 million bond.
