Man arrested in connection to catalytic converter thefts in Lincoln

A business owner in Lincoln was arrested for his involvement in catalytic converter thefts.

LINCOLN, Neb. -- A business owner in Lincoln was arrested for his involvement in catalytic converter thefts.

The Lincoln Police Department said officers were dispatched to Victory Auto, 1443 Cornhusker, on Sunday at 7:15 a.m. They used a search warrant on the 33-year-old owner, Viktor Popov, for an ongoing investigation. 

Officers said Popov was being investigated for his involvement in catalytic converter thefts and the possession of stolen vehicle parts. They were able to find 101 catalytic converters inside his business, with a total value of $30,300.

According to authorities, Popov was cited for theft by receiving and was already in custody at the jail prior to the use of the search warrant due to an unrelated case.
