LINCOLN, Neb. -- A Lincoln man was pronounced dead after a motorcycle accident Wednesday afternoon.

The Lincoln Police Department said officers were sent to the area of Rosa Parks Way and 9th St., along with Lincoln Fire, for a reported motorcycle crash around 1:10 p.m. on Wednesday.

Officers said a black Ducati motorcycle was reportedly traveling east on Rosa Parks Way, heading towards 9th St., and then ran into the north side wall barrier. The impact made the driver separate from the motorcycle and over the wall onto the ground.

According to authorities, the driver of the motorcycle was a 53-year-old Arthur Schmidt man from Lincoln. He was declared dead at the scene. 

LPD said they request privacy for them as they grieve the loss of their loved one. They extend their condolences to his family and friends.
