LPD Officer 'removed from service' following domestic violence allegations
LPD Chief Teresa Ewins removed law enforcement authority from LPD Office Wayne 'Jarvis' Wallage after seven months of service as a result of a domestic related investigation.
LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Lincoln Police Department announced Wednesday night that an officer was removed from service.
LPD Chief Teresa Ewins removed law enforcement authority from LPD Officer Wayne 'Jarvis' Wallage after seven months of service as a result of a domestic abuse-related investigation.
The Lincoln Police Department said it was made aware of two domestic abuse protection orders and one harassment order issued against Wallage. The orders prohibit him from possessing a firearm.
According to the LPD, Wallage was immediately removed from service, even though the orders were not yet available to be served.
LPD officials said Wednesday that Wallage will not be able to act in any official law enforcement capacity.
The Lincoln Police Department said law enforcement officers have been called to the Wallage residence twice in the recent past on domestic violence-related issues.
LPD stated in a release that Wallage has not been cited in either investigation.
Those recent investigations remain ongoing, Ewins said. The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office served Wallage with all three orders on Wednesday, LPD said in its release.
Through a prepared statement, the Lincoln Police Department said it had initiated an internal investigation into the matter.
"We take all allegations of misconduct seriously, especially those involving domestic partners," LPD's emailed statement read.
