OMAHA, NE — A baseball player from Doane got his moment in the national spotlight Monday night and Tuesday morning with a diving catch to claim in SportsCenter's Top 10 plays.
Tanner Black, a rising junior outfielder from Doane, made the diving catch in center field of the first inning of the Omaha Bomber's Monday night contest against the Omaha Black Sox in the Corn Belt Baseball League.
Black and the Bombers would go on to beat the Black Sox 15-5 Monday. To add the icing on the cake, Black's diving play was showcased nationally, claiming the No. 5 spot in SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays later that night.
Black, an Elkhorn South alum, scored 28 runs this year for the Doane Tigers and stole eight bases. He also hit a home run and collected three RBIs in 20 at bats.
The Corn Belt League playoffs begin on Thursday and end Sunday with the championship game
