Homestead Days Underway
BEATRICE – The 2022 Homestead Days celebration is starting today, in Beatrice and the surrounding area.
A Rural Schools of Nebraska exhibit is being unveiled at the Carnegie Building, in Beatrice. It is open from nine until six. It features photographs of the rural heartland by Charles Guildner, who began photographing in 2002 those attending or teaching at small rural schools. His work covers a four-year period, recording nearly 40 rural school houses along with their students and teachers.
The exhibit is named “Atmosphere for Learning Undistracted: Rural Schools of Nebraska”. The exhibit is organized by the Museum of Nebraska Art as part of its ARTreach Program. The display will be at the Carnegie building through August.
Also on the first day of Homestead Days, a glass marble making demonstration is at the Carnegie Building….lawn games are held at the nearby Charles Park during the afternoon….a Junior Miss Homestead Days talent show is at 5:30 p.m., at the Community Players Theatre….and the 13th Annual MOPAR Car Show is from 5 to 8 p.m., at Twin Rivers auto and truck dealership.
The Gage County Museum has its display called “The Homefront: Gage County Contributions During World War Two”.
