Prison term given for motor vehicle, weapon convictions
BEATRICE – A 23-year-old Beatrice man has been ordered to state prison for operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest and possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person.
Darrian Norman was sentenced Wednesday on the two felony convictions in Gage County District Court. District Judge Rick Schreiner ordered concurrent sentences of two years on each count. A charge of possession of a deadly weapon while committing a felony, was dropped.
Norman will also be required to serve two years of post-release supervision. He was arrested in January after leading police on a pursuit, traveling several city streets, maintaining a speed of about 30 miles-per-hour throughout the pursuit. A police officer had attempted to stop Norman’s car after recognizing the driver had a suspended license and several active warrants for his arrest.
Recovered from the car was a five-inch dagger which Norman, a convicted felon, was prohibited from possessing. Norman also had a probation sentence revoked, on a prior conviction of drug possession. A two-year prison term was given.

A conviction for possession of child pornography has resulted in a probation term for a homeless man. 40-year-old Patrick Good was sentenced to a three-year probation term in Gage County District Court, Wednesday.
Good’s arrest was the result of a Nebraska State Patrol investigation into the sharing of child pornography online. Good admitted to using WiFi of a west Beatrice address and using an app to download child pornography. At the time, he had been living out of a car.
