Rally postponed, but Herbster and Trump supporters attend in droves

GREENWOOD - Mother Nature had other plans for the Save America rally featuring former president Donald Trump and governor hopeful Charles Herbster.
The rally at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood was postponed around 3:00 PM as the former president issued a statement with concerns for safety due to severe storms that did develop later on in the evening. The droves of supporters for Trump and Herbster left disappointed, but many will come back on Sunday as the event was rescheduled.
“We’re disappointed, but it’s alright, we understand rain is good,” one group of supporters said. “They do the same thing with baseball for lightning, so this is no different.”
“On a Richter scale of 1-10, my level of disappointment is definitely a 10,” Kelle Dikeman of North Platte said.
Despite disappointment, Herbster looked at the postponement with a glass-half-full attitude, knowing Nebraska needed the rain and the importance of safety.
“You all know, you go out west, there’s been over a thousand acres of burn over the last 30 days, so the rain is great, minus the storms,” Herbster said. “The president and I made the decision together, we put out the statement together from him, our number one importance is that everyone is safe.”
Patrick Peterson is a Herbster supporter from Nebraska’s capitol city of Lincoln and explained why Herbster would be a good model for the state.
“Charles Herbster has a true vision for the state of Nebraska. Charles Herbster's going to be a great executive for the state,” Peterson said. “He’s going to be able to market the state very well. It’s evident he’s been able to do that and he’s going to elevate Nebraska to the next level as the next governor.”
Meanwhile, Rod Poole of Fremont isn’t sold on Herbster, but doesn’t see other candidates as a good fit.
“I’m not quite sure about Herbster yet,” Poole said. “But, I know I’m not going for Pillen or Lindstrom. I think anyone from the university is too liberal for our country.”
There is no official word that all speakers, including Mike Lindell and Kelly Anne Conway will be present on Sunday, but Trump is scheduled to be present.
