FIRTH, NE — Wally Johnson has been hired as the next Head Girls Basketball Coach at Norris High School.

Coach Johnson finished his 15th year at Louisville High School with a 222-144 overall record. His teams have earned six conference regular-season championships, 3 conference tournament championships, and two state tournament appearances. He was instrumental in founding the Louisville Basketball Association. Coach Johnson was also selected to coach in the 2016 Nebraska Coaches Association All-Star Game. 

His wife Lori and him have three children, daughter Maia (21), daughter Ella (16), and son Izak (9).

Coach Johnson said, “My family and I are very excited to be a part of the Titan family. I am very humbled and honored to have been named the next Head Girls Basketball coach at Norris High School. I look forward to the challenge and commitment it will take to keep Norris Girls Basketball a tradition-rich program that will compete for conference championships and postseason success. I am excited to meet the players and their families, begin the next chapter of my career, and continue to develop the next generation of Titans.” 

Dr. Mitchell Stine, Norris Assistant Principal & Activities Director commented, “We are excited to welcome Wally, his wife Lori, and their family to Norris. He will be a wonderful addition to an already talented coaching staff here at Norris. Coach Johnson has a high capacity to forge meaningful relationships with his players along with developing them as basketball players and young women of character. I am excited for the future of Norris Girls’ Basketball under his leadership.”  

Coach Johnson replaces Mark Hagerman who announced his retirement from coaching after 21 years as the Norris Girls Head Basketball Coach in March. Coach Johnson will teach Physical Education at Norris High School.
