First open house on Lincoln Street project scheduled in Beatrice

BEATRICE - The City of Beatrice will be hosting an open house later this month on the Lincoln Street corridor project.

The open house will be March 21^st, from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., at the Lincoln Elementary School gym. No formal presentations are planned, but citizens can provide input on current street conditions along the corridor and potential improvements to it.

Some of the issues the city is examining with the help of a consulting firm include intersections on the stretch between 5^th and 22^nd Streets…pedestrian safety, the number of lanes, traffic control and parking, among others.

Lincoln Street carries nearly five-thousand vehicles per day near the intersection with U.S. Highway 77.  It is an emergency snow route, is intersected by a pair of one-way streets, has a signalized intersection next to an elementary school and an offset intersection at 13^th Street.
