LINCOLN - A southeast Nebraska business will see funds from the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development.

USDA Rural Development State Director Kate Bolz announced her agency is investing $10-million in Nebraska businesses on February 2nd. Nineteen Nebraska businesses have been awarded funds.

One business is Free Day Popcorn in the southeast Nebraska town of Byron in Thayer County. Free Day Popcorn will be awarded a $250,000 Value-Added Producer to help with marketing their Nebraska-grown popcorn locally.

Funds will assist with packaging costs and selling popcorn under the Free Day brand directly to consumers through wholesale and retail accounts.

"These investments are expected to improve and provide job training, expand businesses, and provide technical assistance in rural Nebraska," said Bolz.
