Pickup travels off South 23rd Road

BEATRICE – Two people were taken to separate hospitals in a Friday vehicle accident where the driver was trying to avoid a deer.

Gage County Sheriff’s Officers say a 2006 Chevrolet pickup driven by a 16-year-old male from Blue Springs was northbound on South 23rd Road when he swerved to miss a deer.  The pickup went off the east side of the road, rolling over and ejecting the driver.

Another 16-year-old male from Blue Springs, who was a passenger, was also injured.

The driver was taken to Bryan West Health Center in Lincoln by Beatrice Fire and Rescue….while the passenger was taken by Wymore EMS to Beatrice Community Hospital. 

Law officers say seat belts were not in use.   The accident happened at about 4:40 p.m., about a mile southwest of Wymore.
