Doreen Emma (Slater) Johnson, 81 years of age, of Harbine passed away Friday August 23, 2019 at Havelock Manor in Lincoln. She was born on February 9, 1938 in DuBois, Nebraska to Raymond and Blanche (Callam) Slater. After high school Doreen moved to Lincoln, where she met her husband, Bob, while he was stationed in Lincoln with the United States Air force. She married Bob on June 13, 1957 in Lincoln. After marriage and moving to Beatrice, Doreen worked at Formfit Rogers until it closed. Then she took a job at Farmland Foods in 1975, where she worked her way up and was one of the first woman to be awarded a “Bluehat” (supervisor). She worked there until her retirement. She was a member of the Roaming Volunteers In Christ and Christian Motorcycle Association. Doreen enjoyed going to the races with Bob, being a Powderpuff racer, lap counting at the many local tracks, motorcycle riding, her and Bob’s winter trips to Texas, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Doreen is survived by her 2 daughters, Mary Johnson-Rowell of Lincoln, Bobbi Johnson-Riesen of Beatrice; 7 grandchildren; 9 great- grandchildren; 2 sisters, Arlene Tyler and husband Phil of Las Cruces, NM, Wauneta McKnight of Dorchester; brother, John and Cathy Slater of Nebraska City; sister-in-law June Clark of Huntsville, Alabama; 2 brothers-in-law, Henry Johnson and wife Joyce, Michael “Joe” Johnson and wife Dixie, both of Beatrice; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; son, Gregory; grandson, Dillon Johnson; son-in-law, Delmar Rowell; sisters, Iona Richardson, and Melva Jean Hartshorne; brother, Bob Slater, sisters-in-law, Gracie Jean Rammel and Joanne Slater; and brothers-in-law, Velmer and Don.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 26, 2019 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice with Pastor Jack Magness officiating.  Interment will follow in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. with family greeting friends from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Sunday, August 25, 2019 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice.
