College hoops roundup: Jaylin Sellers scores 27 and Providence takes down Creighton 79-76

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Jaylin Sellers' 27 points helped Providence defeat Creighton 79-76 on Saturday.
Sellers shot 11 for 18, including 5 for 8 from beyond the arc for the Friars (14-15, 7-11 Big East Conference). Jason Edwards shot 7 for 17 (0 for 6 from 3-point range) and 4 of 4 from the free-throw line to add 18 points. Ryan Mela went 4 of 10 from the field to finish with 11 points.
Austin Swartz led the Bluejays (14-16, 8-11) in scoring, finishing with 18 points and seven rebounds. Creighton also got 18 points from Josh Dix. Jasen Green finished with 12 points, seven rebounds, eight assists and two blocks.
Providence went into halftime leading Creighton 39-37. Edwards put up 10 points in the half. Sellers' 20-point second half helped Providence finish off the three-point victory.
Minessale scores 20, St. Thomas-Minnesota takes down Omaha 68-53
Nolan Minessale scored 20 points as St. Thomas-Minnesota beat Omaha 68-53 on Saturday night.
Minessale shot 7 for 9 (2 for 3 from 3-point range) and 4 of 7 from the free-throw line for the Tommies (23-8, 12-4 Summit League). Nick Janowski added nine points and six rebounds. Ben Oosterbaan and Carter Bjerke also finished with nine points apiece.
Lance Waddles finished with 14 points and eight rebounds for the Mavericks (15-16, 8-8). Omaha also got 13 points from Paul Djobet. Ja'Sean Glover also had eight points.
Rechsteiner scores 20, Colorado State knocks off San Jose State 85-73
SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Brandon Rechsteiner's 20 points helped Colorado State defeat San Jose State 85-73 on Saturday.
Rechsteiner went 7 of 11 from the field (6 for 9 from 3-point range) for the Rams (19-10, 10-8 Mountain West Conference). Carey Booth scored 15 points while going 3 of 9 from the floor and 8 for 9 from the line, and added five rebounds. Rashaan Mbemba shot 5 of 6 from the field and 5 for 6 from the line to finish with 15 points. Jevin Muniz had 12 points and 10 assists. The Rams picked up their seventh straight victory.
Colby Garland led the way for the Spartans (8-21, 3-15) with 28 points, eight assists and two steals. Melvin Bell Jr. added 15 points and six rebounds for San Jose State. Sadraque NgaNga and Adrian Myers had 10 points each.
Colorado State took the lead for what would be the final time on Muniz's layup with 11:19 left in the game.
Denker scores 33, Northern Colorado beats Idaho 76-67
MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) — Quinn Denker's 33 points led Northern Colorado past Idaho 76-67 on Saturday.
Denker added seven rebounds for the Bears (19-11, 9-8 Big Sky Conference). Brock Wisne scored 15 points while going 6 of 12 from the field. Vincent Delano shot 3 for 7, including 1 for 3 from beyond the arc to finish with nine points.
Isaiah Brickner finished with 15 points and seven rebounds for the Vandals (16-14, 8-9). Jackson Rasmussen added 15 points and two steals for Idaho. Biko Johnson also had 12 points.
Dennis and Wyoming take down Air Force 66-62
LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — Damarion Dennis scored 16 points for the Wyoming Cowboys in a 66-62 win over Air Force that extended the Falcons’ losing streak — the longest active skid in the nation — to 22 games on Saturday.
Dennis shot 4 for 8 (1 for 3 from 3-point range) and 7 of 8 from the free-throw line for the Cowboys (16-13, 7-11 Mountain West Conference). Nasir Meyer added 14 points and eight rebounds while going 5 of 11 from the floor, including 1 for 4 from 3-point range, and 3 for 3 from the free-throw line. Adam Harakow shot 5 for 6 (2 for 3 from 3-point range) and 2 of 3 from the free-throw line to finish with 14 points.
Kam Sanders finished with 16 points, nine rebounds and five assists for the Falcons (3-26, 0-18). Air Force also got 12 points and six rebounds from Eli Robinson. Wesley Celichowski finished with nine points and seven rebounds. The Falcons extended their losing streak to 22 straight.
Dennis scored 11 points in the first half for Wyoming, who led 35-25 at halftime. Meyer put up 10 points in the second half for Wyoming.
No. 5 Houston takes out the frustration of 3 straight losses with a 102-62 win over Colorado
HOUSTON (AP) — Milos Uzan had 26 points and six assists, Joseph Tugler scored 14 and No. 5 Houston snapped its three-game losing streak with a 102-62 win over Colorado on Saturday.
Uzan had 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting in the first half as the Cougars (24-5, 12-4 Big 12) built a 55-29 lead at the break. Houston shot 56%, including 6 of 11 on 3-pointers, in the first half.
Chris Cenac Jr. scored 12 points, Kingston Flemings had 11 points, six rebound and eight assists and Chase McCarty, Emanuel Sharp and Mercy Miller finished with 10 points each for Houston, which shot 60% for the game and 10 of 17 on 3-pointers.
The Cougars forced Colorado into 15 turnovers and converted them into 21 points. They outrebounded the Buffaloes 34-22.
Isaiah Johnson had 19 points, Bangot Dak added 15 points and Sebastian Rancik scored 11 for Colorado (16-13, 6-10). The Buffaloes, who had their two-game winning streak snapped, shot 46% and were 3 of 14 on 3-pointers.
Colorado coach Tad Boyle was ejected after receiving two technical fouls for arguing with the officials with 3:06 remaining in the first half. Houston coach Kelvin Sampson was whistled for a technical foul in the second half. In total, there were 35 fouls called. The Cougars were 24 of 31 from the free-throw line, while Colorado was 13 of 18 from the line.
Trailing 10-2 about three minutes into the game, Houston responded by outscoring Colorado 36-11 over the next 10 minutes to take a 38-21 lead on a 3-pointer by McCarty. Uzan scored nine points in the run.
