Wayne, Neb. – A grass fire broke out northeast of Wayne, Nebraska, on Friday afternoon, prompting a swift response from multiple fire departments. The incident occurred around 1:30 pm, with large plumes of smoke visible from several miles away, raising concerns.

The dry and windy conditions prevailing in the area are suspected to have contributed to the rapid spread of the fire. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Wayne Fire Department led the firefighting efforts, working diligently to contain the fire. The Wayne Police Department ensured public safety, blocking off roads affected by the low visibility caused by the thick smoke.

In a display of community spirit, several area farmers quickly assisted the fire department. They used their equipment to disc around the fire, creating barriers to help control its spread and prevent further damage. The fire has since been extinguished, and authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
