DALTON, Neb. — Leyton survived a late Garden County rally and held on for a 45-43 win Thursday in the Class D2-10 Subdistrict Tournament Championship.

Garden County led 23-21 at halftime before Leyton surged in the third quarter to take a 39-32 advantage into the fourth. The Eagles battled back down the stretch and had a chance to win, but the final shot at the buzzer missed.

Austin Beutler led the Warriors with 19 points, while Colt Van Anne added 15. Leyton committed 15 turnovers but did enough offensively in the second half to secure the victory.

Lane Brenneman paced Garden County with 15 points. The Eagles committed 12 turnovers in the two-point loss.

Leyton improved to 18-5 and advances to a district final, scheduled for Saturday, Monday or Tuesday.

Garden County fell to 20-6 and now awaits its postseason fate.
