Red Raiders Roll into C1-10 Semifinals

The #4 seed Sidney Red Raiders opened postseason play in dominant fashion Monday night, rolling past the #5 seed Mitchell Tigers 61-27 in the first round of the C1-10 Sub-District Tournament at Prairie View School in Ogallala.

The #4 seed Sidney Red Raiders opened postseason play in dominant fashion Monday night, rolling past the #5 seed Mitchell Tigers 61-27 in the first round of the C1-10 Sub-District Tournament at Prairie View School in Ogallala.

Sidney set the tone immediately, as Kale Kaiser scored the Red Raiders’ first six points of the game. The early burst sparked an 18-7 first quarter advantage, with Sidney shooting 54 percent from the floor in the opening eight minutes.

The Red Raiders’ defense took over in the second quarter. Sidney did not allow a Mitchell field goal in the period and surrendered just three total points, stretching the lead to 34-10 by halftime.

The defensive intensity carried over after the break. Lance Holly scored seven points in the third quarter while Sidney limited the Tigers to just one field goal and five points in the frame. The Red Raiders pushed their advantage to 50-15 heading into the fourth quarter, putting the game well out of reach.

Kale Kaiser led Sidney with 19 points, while Holly added 14. Alek Doty and Keian Kaiser each added eight points in the win. Waymond Banks paced Mitchell with eight points.

With the win, Sidney improves to 11-13 on the season, while Mitchell closes its campaign at 9-14.

The Red Raiders advance to Tuesday’s first semifinal against top-seeded Ogallala (22-0) at Prairie View School in Ogallala. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m., followed by the second semifinal between #2 seed Bridgeport (21-4) and #3 seed Chase County (12-12) at 6:00 p.m.
