Bonnie D. King

Bonnie D. King, 82, of Pueblo, Colorado, and a former resident of Wymore and Beatrice, Nebraska, passed away peacefully in her home with family by her side on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. Her life was characterized by deep devotion to her family, a spirited sense of adventure, and a huge, generous heart. Bonnie was born on February 7, 1943, in Findley, Ohio to Robert and Marjorie (Moore) Hailey. Her family's journey took her across the Midwest, beginning when she was just two years old. They lived in various towns including Manhattan, Kansas, and David City, Tobias, and Red Cloud, Nebraska, before finally settling in Beatrice in 1956. In 1962, Bonnie graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School where she formed deep and meaningful friendships that would last for the rest of her life. A defining chapter of her life began on June 17, 1962, when she married the love of her life, James (Jim) King. Together they built a life filled with partnership and love, living near Holmesville, Nebraska, before venturing out to Missouri and later to Colorado. Bonnie was Jim's dedicated partner in all things, and she worked for many years alongside him in his shoe repair shop and at their auction company. Throughout her life, Bonnie held other various positions as a waitress and secretary, and she worked at Dempster Manufacturing and Formfit in Beatrice, Nebraska. However, her greatest joy was found in her roles as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Upon learning of the anticipated birth of her first grandchild, she returned to Colorado, ensuring she would live out the rest of her life close to her daughter and grandson. Bonnie embraced all that life had to offer with enthusiasm and joy. She had many passions throughout her life including raising horses and loving her pet dogs, with her favorite being the dachshund. She was creative and spent countless hours indulging in crafts. A sharp mind and spicy spirit kept her busy completing crossword puzzles and enjoying lively games of cards with friends and family.
Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Jaime (King) Quinn, her cherished grandson, Caden Quinn, a future son-in-law, and many beloved members of her found family in Colorado. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim King, who passed away on December 31, 1998; three infant sons; her father, Robert Hailey; her mother, Marjorie (Moore) Meier; and her stepfather.
