CRETE, Neb.- Doane University responded to a reported threat Tuesday morning.
Officials with Doane University in Crete say they received a report Tuesday morning that there was possibly someone with a gun in the campus Communications building.
That prompted administrators to place the campus in lockout, send a mobile alert to student and staff alerting local authorities.
The university says law enforcement determined this was a potential “swatting” incident — a false report meant to trigger an emergency response.
After working with Crete Police and the Saline County Sheriff's Office, the college issued an all clear after about an hour.
No one was hurt.
