BEATRICE, Neb. - The Civil Air Patrol made a trip to southeast Nebraska to gauge local interest in forming a local group.
CAP held an open house at the Beatrice Municipal Airport on Monday night, displaying the various features they take part in. Wilma Gerena of Civil Air Patrol Public Affairs says it's an opportunity that could lead to potential grow and potential futures for those interested.
"Tonight we are gauging interest for Civil Air Patrol," Gerena said. "We're sharing our programs which are cadet programs, emergency services, and aerospace education... We want to provide an overview of our youth program for ages 12-18."
The open house also had flight simulators and a Civil Air Patrol plane fly in. Gerena says a recent visit to Beatrice gave CPA the idea to host the open house.
"I visited about a month ago, we had a fly in at the airport, I came in with a table and people we're interested so we thought why not."
