Larry W. Wise

On Easter morning, April 20, 2025, just before sunrise, the world said goodbye to a resilient soul, Larry Wise. He was born on November 9, 1950, in Havre de Grace, MD, to Elmer and Ellen (Standiford) Wise. He graduated from South Charleston High School in West Virginia. Larry was a talented individual with a remarkable wit and a heart full of generosity. His love for life was infectious, and his vibrant spirit left a profound impression that will be remembered by all who knew him.
Larry embarked on his journey of life with a wealth of talents and a unique knack for making people smile. He was a successful Rainbow Vacuum salesman, known for his charismatic and persuasive sales presentations. His hobbies included card tricks, darts, pool, fishing, golfing, cornhole, and throwing horseshoes. Larry was an active member of the Beatrice Area Cornhole Group and the Topeka Horseshoe Club. He also had an enduring passion for baseball and softball, playing from the age of 5 to 50. He never really left the field, as he coached little league for his grandsons.
Larry's most cherished accomplishment was his family. He married the love of his life, Twila, on November 22, 1980, in Pea Ridge, Florida. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised their children: Katie, Lea, and Josh. 1 Corinthians 15:58 "Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." Larry stood firm in his faith and invited everyone he met to know Jesus. It was only appropriate that he died on his favorite holiday, Easter.
Survivors include his wife, Twila; children Katie (Brandon) Lillibridge of Wymore, Lea (Kyle) Ames of Wymore, Josh (Liane) Wise of Silver Lake, Kansas, and Scott Wise (and family); grandchildren, Braiden Strouf, Maleah and Paizley Lillibridge, Hope (Austin) Adams, Alex and Blake Meece, Kylie Ames (Brodie Cooper), Emma Ames (Alex Esteban), Kale Ames, and Hayley, Jaiden and Addison Wise; great granddaugter, Evaline Esteban-Ames; siblings, Patti (Jimmy) Kerr, Dennis (Diana) Wise; nephews, Chris Wise, Michael Horton, JP Wise, and several other nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; great granddaughter, Malenna Esteban-Ames; and sister, Barbara Clay.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 25, 2025 at the Wymore United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the Wymore Cemetery. A family prayer service will begin at 12:45 PM. The body will lie in state at Laughlin-Hoevet Funeral Home on Thursday from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM with the family greeting relatives and friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and at the church one hour prior to the service Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Larry Wise Memorial for future designation with the funeral home in charge.
