BEATRICE – The Beatrice Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast is coming up next week. The annual event is being coordinated by City Council members Terry Doyle, Gary Barnard and Ted Fairbanks. Tickets are being sold for the breakfast. Councilman Barnard says the event will be at the Vintage Venue, at 7th and Court, Tuesday, April 8th , starting at 6 am.

"We're going to be serving breakfast starting at six a.m.and the program will start at seven. Our keynote speaker this year is going to be Haven Fields, the Husker Athletics Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer for the athletic department."

College athletics has raised a lot of interest with things like name, image and likeness deals and athletes moving from one school to another, through the transfer portal.

"He's a money guy...he's pretty well going to know that...and I'm sure someone is going to ask him some questions. Seems to me like that hasn't been good for college sports....but that's just one guy's opinion."

Sponsoring organizations of the Mayors Prayer Breakfast include Homestead Land Company and Twin Rivers Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram.
