BEATRICE – One week after a winter blizzard that knocked out power to thousands, Norris Public Power District has restored power to all remaining customers.  At the height of the storm Wednesday, March 19th…around 14,000 customers lost power in the six-county district.

The storm just before the official start of spring caused significant destruction across the Norris electric system. All six counties that Norris serves were included in a disaster declaration by Governor Jim Pillen.

Norris crews worked around the clock and were aided by assistance from Dawson Public Power District, Southern Public Power District, Nebraska Public Power District, Lincoln Electric System, West Central Electric Cooperative, Rosebud Electric Cooperative, and IES Commercial.

Next up is a lengthy recovery phase of cleanup and maintenance on the electric system by replacing damaged poles, crossarms, insulators, and hardware damaged during the winter storm.

Any Norris customer who may still be without power, is encouraged to contact the district at 402-223-4038.

District officials say they appreciate the patience, generosity, and support from Norris customers and others.
