BEATRICE – Beatrice Fire and Rescue crew members were sent to a location not far from the Big Blue River Sunday…where a man was trapped under a tree.

A fire captain says the man was cutting firewood when a falling tree branch pinned him.  Rescue personnel used airbags to lift the branch off the man and he was taken by ambulance to Bryan West Health Center in Lincoln, for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident happened next to a field in the 300 block of Sharpless Avenue.

Emergency personnel were sent to the scene at around 3:14 p.m.   Six crew members responded along with an ambulance, fire truck and rescue truck.
