SCOTTSBLUFF -- In the early morning hours of Monday, March 24, 2025, Miguel Colin Tirado, 40, of Alliance, suffered what appeared to be a medical emergency while in custody at the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center. 

Tirado was detained as a courtesy hold on several charges for Box Butte County, NE.

 Multiple officers responded immediately and provided lifesaving measures. Regional West Ambulance and the Gering Volunteer Fire Department also responded. Tirado was transported to Regional West Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased. 

Nebraska statutes require a grand jury investigation into all in-custody deaths. The Nebraska State Patrol is in charge of the investigation.
