Beatrice man killed in Johnson County traffic accident

Collision between a pickup and semitrailer truck happens near junction of highway and rural road

BEATRICE – A two-vehicle accident in Johnson County has taken the life of a Beatrice man.

Johnson County Attorney Ben Beethe identified the victim of the Monday afternoon accident as 42-year-old Troy Schwartz, of Beatrice. 

At around 4:20 p.m. Monday, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting a collision between a semitrailer truck and a pickup, on U.S. Highway 136, west of Tecumseh.

Emergency Services confirmed the driver of the pickup was killed in the collision….which happened near the junction of U.S. 136 and 610 Avenue…. ten miles west of Tecumseh….or about two miles northeast of Crab Orchard.

The driver of the tractor-trailer…a 34-year-old Florida man and his passenger, were not injured. 

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and Nebraska State Patrol are investigating the accident.
