BEATRICE – The drivers of two vehicles were killed in a Clay County, Kansas crash on Sunday.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said the accident occurred on Kansas Highway 15 about 15 miles south of Clay Center.

A 2013 Chevrolet Malibu driven by 56-year-old Deanna Hess of Clay Center was southbound when it crossed the centerline and collided with the side of a 2016 Chevrolet Impala driven by 53-year-old Lisa Stevenson, of Salina, Kansas.  The collision was just south of the intersection of Kansas 15 and Second Road.

Both Hess and Stevenson died at the scene of the collision, which occurred at around 5:35 p.m., Sunday.  A passenger in Stevenson’s vehicle…a 13-year-old girl…suffered serious injuries and was taken to Salina Regional Health Center. 

Both drivers were using safety restraints, but the injured passenger was not using one.
