Max W. Werner, born on March 13, 1936 in Wymore, Nebraska, graduated from Wymore High School in 1954, and passed away on November 11, 2024. After living a fulfilling life of 88 years, Max leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication, which he instilled in his family and community in Beatrice, Nebraska, where he resided for 59 years. A humble and loving man, Max was a pillar of strength to all who were fortunate to know him. He was a devoted husband, a doting father, a proud grandfather, and a great-grandfather who always put his family first.

Max was a talented man who wore many hats. He served his country in the United States Marines for 8 years, showing his unwavering commitment to his nation. Later, he turned his passion for automobiles into a professional career, working as an auto mechanic and eventually owning and operating his own business, Max's Automotive, from 1974- 2016. His creativity found another outlet in his hobby of woodworking, where he crafted beautiful grandfather clocks, model airplanes, and remodeled his home and shop. He also enjoyed shooting trap, camping, boating, and fishing. Max also had been a member of the Beatrice Sertoma Club, Beatrice Gun Club, and Beatrice Antique Car Club. "The only way to do great work is to love what you do," said Steve Jobs, a quote that truly embodied Max's life.

Max is survived by his wife of 66 years, Maggie (Walter) Werner, his daughter Sherri (Brian) Hamel of Beatrice, and sons Doug (Deb) Werner of Beatrice and Dennis (Jackie) Werner of Queen Creek, Arizona. He was a proud grandfather to Ashley (Devon) Tate, Ryan, Matt (Chelsea), and Cassandra Werner, Tom (April) Shalkowitz, and Eric (Nicole Ackland) and Kyle (Taylor) Hamel. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren Cody Werner and Brooke Hamel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Bertha (Smith) Werner, and brothers Arlo, James, and Gary Werner.
