Ardelle was born February 2, 1929 to Elmer and Alice Stowers. Her father died when she was just 10 days old. Her mother remarried and she was raised by father Perry Smith and was the oldest of 5 children.

Ardelle attended Star Country School near Western, NE and graduated from Western High School in 1947. Growing up, she enjoyed roller skating and trips to Fairbury on Saturday night. She helped with her family’s custom baling and milking operations.

After high school she worked at a newspaper then later returned to Fairbury where she worked at Globe Rexall serving fountain pop drinks.

On March 5, 1950 she married Glenn Ebbers at the First Church of God. To this union five children were born. Ardelle & Glenn raised their family on a farm 8 miles west of Plymouth. She was a true partner on the farm driving combines, grain trucks, baling hay, checking irrigation and providing lunch for everyone each day.

Ardelle was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was active with Grange and 4-H projects with her children. She & Glenn were life-long Fairbury Jeff fans, traveling to nearly every home and away game. They enjoyed watching their grandchildren and rarely missed a game. She & Glenn would travel to the Cornhusker & Senior State Games and compete in track and field events for many years. She also loved the Huskers and enjoyed attending Husker Volleyball games when she had the chance.

Ardelle enjoyed doing things as a family. She enjoyed baking, hunting, reading, crosswords, puzzles and playing cards or games. She bowled on a weekly bowling league until after her 90th birthday! She was known for her Christmas goodies and caramels and her dinner rolls were always the first thing gone at family gatherings. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling with her sisters and family.

She was a lifelong member of the First Church of God. Her faith was very important to her and she enjoyed reading her bible and daily devotions, attending camps, retreats, gospel music events and attending church every Sunday.

Ardelle was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glenn, children Pam Sue & husband Mike, infant daughter and son Mary Alice & David Jonathon, siblings Dale and Marlea Smith, brother and sister-in-laws Harvey & Edna Ebbers, Verena & Marvin Stewart, Leona & Cecil Burd, Esther & Howard Schmidt, and Bernice and Harold Schmitt and great-grandson Charles Glenn Murphy.
