NEBRASKA — Nebraskans were greeted with a spectacular show on Friday as a solar storm brought the Norther Lights into view on Friday night.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the event was a G5 geomagnetic storm, which is the most powerful type of solar storm.
The last solar storm to hit Earth was in 2003.

If you missed the chance to see them on Friday, NOAA said the storms will persist until Sunday, which means Saturday night could bring another opportunity to see the lights.
