Bernice L. (Jobman) Parde, 95, joined her heavenly family on March 18, 2024, while at the Beatrice Community Hospital. She was born on November 22, 1928, in Beatrice to Reinhard and Teda (Jurgens) Jobman.   She was baptized, confirmed, and married at Emmanuel Lutheran Church east of Beatrice. Bernice attended Fairview Country School, never missing a day through 8th grade.  She worked at Swift Egg Company until she met a clarinet player in the Hanover Band and married Edward Parde on August 29, 1948.  They moved to their farm five miles south of Adams, where they lived for 48 years until moving to Adams in 1996.  They raised their five daughters and one son, Shirley, Carol, LaDonna, Barbara, Teresa, and Douglas in a strong Lutheran faith as members of Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. She taught confirmation, was a member of WELCA, served on the Altar Guild, and tied many quilts in her home for Lutheran World Relief.  Bernice also was a member of the Adams Rescue Unit and was an active member in Sunshine Gals Extension Club. After caring for her mother for many years, she worked at Gold Crest Retirement Center as a CNA and mentor for 20 years.  Edward and Bernice enjoyed traveling, first with their children, and then with friends on bus trips, but especially enjoyed Germany and Hawaii. Bernice was an excellent seamstress, spending many hours sewing for her daughters and granddaughters. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities and spending time with them.

Survivors include her daughters, Shirley Martin of Blue Springs, Carol (Gary) Harms of Cortland,  LaDonna (Gene) Wiese of Adams, Barb (Rick) Huls of Grand Island, and Teresa (Greg) Thomas of Lincoln; son, Doug (Cindy) Parde of Adams; fifteen grandchildren, Dustin Martin and friend Rachel Frerichs of Blue Springs, Curt (Joy) Martin of Hickman, Chad (Toni) Harms of Adams, Chris (Sarah) Harms of Cortland, Dawn (Tregan) Beck of Bennington, Brandon (Kaitlin) Wiese of Adams, Chelsea (Shane) Heuer of California, Whitney (Joe) Cyr of Omaha, Josh (Emily) Huls of Michigan, Alexandra Thomas of Lincoln, Grant Thomas of Denver, Griffin (Taylor) Thomas of Omaha, Lauren Parde, Ashley Parde, and Trevor Parde all of  Adams; twenty great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Irene Schoen of Adams and Christina Hofeling of Beatrice; numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, who died on August 23, 2016; parents, Reinhard and Teda (Jurgens) Jobman; son-in-law, Kent Martin; sister, Emma (John) Thompson; brothers, Bill (Edith) Jobman, Henry Jobman, John Jobman and Rosa Jobman Johnson, and Harvey Jobman; in-laws, Wilfred and Geneva Parde, Willard Schoen, Henry and Thelma Busboom, Herman Hofeling and Fred Johnson.


Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, March 22, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell with Pastor Jerry Gilbreath officiating.  The service will be live-streamed by the church.  The burial will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery of rural Pickrell. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Friday at the church. The body will lie in state on Thursday from noon until 8:00 P.M. at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice.  The family will greet relatives and friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Zion Lutheran Church of Pickrell and the Freeman Public School Foundation with Elnora Lenners and Karen Buhr in charge.   Fox Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Beatrice is in charge of the arrangements.
