Former Beatrice State Developmental Center worker to be sentenced in sexual abuse case

BEATRICE – A Beatrice man is scheduled be sentenced Thursday, after entering no contest pleas to sexual abuse charges for incidents authorities said occurred at the Beatrice State Developmental Center.
32-year-old Allen Evans pleaded no contest to two charges of sexual abuse of a protected person, both class Two-A felonies. He could receive up to twenty years in prison, during sentencing scheduled for 8:30 a.m., Thursday, in Gage County District Court.
Evans, who was employed at BSDC, entered the no contest pleas in early November to the charges amended by the Gage County Attorney’s Office.
He originally faced a charge of first-degree sexual assault of an incompetent person…and charges of tampering with physical evidence and abuse of a vulnerable adult.
Evans was arrested April 26th, of 2022, following a Nebraska State Patrol investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a female resident of BSDC…where Evans worked. The investigation involved the recovery of physical evidence by investigators from a dumpster located outside the home of the resident, and DNA testing of evidence.
Evans has been held in custody since his arrest.
