LINCOLN, Neb. -- One person left dead and one injured following a crash on Nebraska Parkway in Lincoln, Monday.

The Lincoln Police Department said they are investigating the deadly crash that happened around 2 p.m. on Monday.

Police said they were dispatched to S 20th St. and Nebraska Parkway for a multi-vehicle crash.

LPD said the initial investigation told them a white pickup truck, driven by 38-year-old from Crete, was driving west on Nebraska Parkway when a maroon sedan, driven by 32-year-old Ryley Costello, on S 20th St. tried to turn east onto Nebraska Parkway.

The two vehicles reportedly crashed at the intersection.

Lincoln Fire & Rescue said they took both drivers to a local hospital with critical injuries.

Authorities said Costello died from his injuries.

The driver of the pickup is reportedly being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

LPD said that Nebraska Parkway eastbound starting at 14th St. and westbound starting at 27th St. remained closed for some time as the investigation was completed.

The intersection of Southwood and Nebraska Parkway was also closed to westbound traffic. Drivers were encouraged to take a different route.
