BEATRICE – The Beatrice owners of a local pharmacy are being honored by the Beatrice Public Schools as the Business of the Month.
Rick and Linda Clabaugh, whose Clabaugh Pharmacy is an anchor downtown business, were recognized at the District 15 Board meeting Monday night for their support of BPS over many years.

"Helping with numerous sporting events....sponsorships of our students...teachers and numerous programs. We feel extremely fortunate to have Clabaugh Pharmacy as a contributing partner financially, but also that they support our students in so many other ways. They have supported our classrooms in all schools, t-shirts for various events, and not to mention human resources in terms of volunteer coaching, sponsoring student events and always making sure Beatrice puts its best foot forward as a community and a school."

Superintendent Jason Alexander says the Clabaughs several years ago, began honoring a local teacher annually for outstanding performance.
"The Clabaugh Family Outstanding Educator award....each year, an educator is honored for teaching effectiveness in and out of the classroom...and the ability to inspire students, as well. They not only provide a trophy, but also a very generous check of $1,500 to that teacher of the year."

Alexander says the couple recognize how important a good school system is as part of the growth of a community. The family has also helped organize homecoming activities and a Beatrice Educational Foundation fundraising golf tournament, among other things.

During Monday night’s meeting, the board also honored High School Social Sciences Instructor Corey Wells as the employee of the month. Wells also coaches the Beatrice Girls wrestling team.
