BEATRICE – Beatrice Rural Firefighters were dispatched to a truck fire south of Beatrice, Thursday evening.

Firefighters were sent at 6:20 p.m. to a location on West Linden Road…about a half-mile east of U.S. Highway 77.

The truck had hit a guard rail and caught fire.  The reporting party said the older farm truck operated on propane fuel.   Southeast Communications Center traffic indicated the driver was not injured and was walking away from the wreck.

Emergency officials said the truck was fitted with a 20-gallon tank of propane. The fire in the vehicle was extinguished about 23 minutes after officials were sent to the scene.

Fire department trucks were back in service from the call, just after seven p.m.
