A southeast Nebraska Sheriff's Office is releasing numbers from a 'Drive High, Get a DUI' campaign.
JOHNSON COUNTY - A southeast Nebraska Sheriff's Office is releasing numbers from a 'Drive High, Get a DUI' campaign.
Thought dates of April 19-23, three deputies from the Johnson County Sheriff's Office performed 23 hours of saturation patrol in an attempt to identify and remove drug impaired drivers from the roadway. During the period, deputies performed 44 traffic stops, with 26 resulting in issuance of a citation.
According to the sheriff's office, on April 20, one individual was placed under arrest for multiple charges including possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. On April 21, one individual was arrested for DUI after a preliminary breath test showed a .365 Blood Alcohol Content, which is 4.5 times over the legal limi in Nebraska. Also on April 21, one individual was arrested for refusal to complete a preliminary breath test after showing numerous signs of impairment. During a search of the vehicle, deputies found a loaded Glock .45 handgun, several hydrocodone pills and an open container of alcohol. The individual was charged with refusing to submit a pre-test, open container in a moving vehicle, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a firearm while committing a felont.
An additional individual was cited and released for driving under suspension.
The department plans to conduct a "click it or ticket" campaign later this month.
