Staplehurst school evacuated due to fire on Thursday

A school in Staplehurst was forced to evacuate Thursday afternoon due to a fire threat.

STAPLEHURST, Neb. -- A school in Staplehurst was forced to evacuate Thursday afternoon due to a fire threat. 

Around 2:15 p.m., the Seward County Sheriff's Office said that the fire had been contained. There was no longer an active threat of fire for the Village of Staplehurst. 

Just before 2 p.m., the Sheriff's Office said there was a mandatory evacuation for Our Redeemer School because of a fire. 

Parents were asked to pick up students immediately. After picking up students, they were asked to report to the Community Center in Staplehurst.
