Lady Orange pick up 11th win at Ralston, Orangemen drop second straight

BEATRICE - Beatrice basketball split the Friday night trip to Ralston as the Lady Orange picked up 58-18 victory, while the Orangemen fell 68-60.
The Lady O led by 20 at half, with Ellie Jurgens putting up 14 in the first half. Beatrice got out to a lead of over 30 late in the third quarter before running away with a 40 point win. Three members of the Lady Orange set new career highs... Ellie Jurgens with 23, Kiera Busboom with 13 and Callie Schwisow with six, knocking down the only two made triples for Beatrice in the game.
The Lady Orange improve to 11-1 on the year. They host Nebraska City in the Trailblazer Conference on Monday.
The Orangemen played a competitive game with Ralston, but struggled to score and were hesitant taking shots. A layup at the buzzer for Ralston's Cooper Helms gave the Rams a 32-30 lead at the half. Crew Meints scored a game high 23 for Beatrice including 12 of Beatrice's 15 third quarter points.
Beatrice went into the fourth up by one, but foul trouble loomed large as leading scorer Tucker Timmerman and Luke Feist both fouled out with just over two minutes to play. Ralston pulled away to win 68-60.
After a shooting night of 0/13 from three the night before against Elkhorn, Beatrice did make two three pointers, each by the point guards, Dawson Loomis and Treyson Russell.
Beatrice drops their second in as many games and falls to 7-5 on the season. They take on the Rams again on Tuesday night at the O-Zone.
