Two sentenced for gaining access to vacant Beatrice manufacturing plant

BEATRICE - Two persons caught allegedly attempting to take property from a vacant manufacturing plant in Beatrice were sentenced last week.
36-year-old Brandyn Tomes, of Lincoln was sentenced to a three-year-probation term for convictions of 2nd-degree criminal trespass and possession of a controlled substance.
39-year-old Julie Rodgers, of Lincoln was sentenced to a two-year-probation term for 2nd-degree trespass and obstructing a peace officer. Tomes and Rodgers had previously faced felony burglary and possession of burglar tools counts.
Rodgers and Tomes were co-defendants in a case involving attempts to steal property from inside the long-vacant Dempster Manufacturing plant in south Beatrice….which has been condemned. Periodically, police have found people trespassing on the property.
A hole had been cut in a fence at the rear of the property to gain access.
