BEATRICE – A mother and daughter were treated for minor injuries after their vehicle encountered a deer, northwest of Beatrice.

Gage County law officers say a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox driven by 27-year-old Alexandra Meyers, of rural Plymouth was traveling west on Hickory Road when a deer ran onto the roadway.  The collision with the animal set off the S-U-V’s airbags.

Meyers and her six-year-old daughter were treated for minor injuries at the scene.  Authorities say they were later taken by private vehicle to Beatrice Community Hospital for additional evaluations.  Both were using safety restraints.

The collision with the deer occurred Thursday at around 8 p.m., on West Hickory Road west of Southwest 61st Road…about three miles northwest of Beatrice.
