FAIRBURY, NE — A member of the Fairbury Jeffs volleyball team is heading to play Division I volleyball at the next level. 

Emily Huss officially signed her national letter of intent (NLI) to play volleyball for the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks beginning next season on Wednesday, the NCAA's Fall Signing Day. 

Huss led the Jeffs in kills, assists and blocks in the 2022 season. She recorded 406 kills, 1,112 assists and 144 total blocks, including 67 solo blocks. 

She finished her high school career with 969 kills and 360 total blocks. 

Huss also helped the Jeffs to back-to-back appearances in the district final round of the NSAA volleyball postseason in 2021 and 2022. 

The Fairbury senior will join a Mavericks team who made the jump from Division II to Division I in 2011 and is 69-38 under current head coach Matt Buttermore who is in his fourth season at the school.
