LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Lincoln Police Department arrested a man on Wednesday for a homicide from August.

LPD said they arrested 55-year-old William Wright for first-degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony in connection to the death of 49-year-old Ronnie Patz.

Officials said Wright was first arrested for the murder of 61-year-old Ronald George on Sept. 1. Officers had found the body of George on Aug. 31 in a field N 3rd St. and P St. and begin a homicide investigation.

According to authorities, the information that they had gathered during the George's investigation led them to the area of NW 12th St. and W Bond St. where they found Patz's body. LPD released Patz's name on Sept. 7 and determined that Wright was also a person of interest in his death.

The report said the LPD Investigators and Crime Scene Technicians conducted additional interviews, searched various locations for evidence, and collected evidence that was submitted for additional forensic analysis during the investigation.

LPD said Wright was ultimately arrested due to the forensic examination results from the investigation. They have notified Patz's family of the arrest and would like to extend their condolences to his family and friends and ask members of the public to respect their privacy as they grieve the loss of their loved one.

Both investigations are ongoing, and LPD asks anyone with information to contact them at 402.441.6000 or if they wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 402.475.3600.
