LINCOLN, Neb. -- A man reportedly stole a motorcycle and broke into a security office in Lincoln.

The Lincoln Police Department said a call came in around 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 16 for a reported stolen motorcycle at the 2300 block of Garfield.

Officers said the 20-year-old victim told them his 2003 Kawasaki Ninja was taken at some point overnight.

According to authorities, they received a call on Sept. 18 around 9:00 a.m. about a suspicious person and a partially disassembled motorcycle at the 1700 block of Benton.

Officials said they checked the identifying information and found out that the motorcycle was the same one that was reported stolen. Officials did a follow-up and was able to identify 35-year-old suspect Justin Britthouer at an apartment in the 3500 block of Portia.

Officers said they determined that the apartment building had security cameras and they would likely show Britthouer taking apart the stolen motorcycle and were working on retrieving the video.

LPD said officers were dispatched to the apartment building again around 3:45 p.m. for a call of someone breaking into the security office.

Officers said they entered the building and took Britthouer into custody after he tried to flee. The window to the security office was reportedly shattered and the hard drive of the security system had been taken.

According to authorities, Britthouer was transported to a jail and then lodged for burglary, theft by receiving, possession of a controlled substance, and tamper with physical evidence.
