Lincoln man killed in motorcycle crash
The Lincoln Police Department is investigating a crash that killed a man Friday night.
LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Lincoln Police Department is investigating a crash that killed a man Friday night.
LPD said a crash took place at N 27th Street and Cornhusker Highway at 10:15 p.m. with a 29-year-old motorcyclist that was traveling eastbound on Cornhusker Highway.
Officers said the witnesses told them the motorcycle was allegedly speeding and the driver ran a red light. The motorcycle reportedly collided with a truck that was traveling southbound on N 27th Street.
According to authorities, the witnesses and arriving officers tried to save the motorcyclist's life before Lincoln Fire and Rescue took him to the hospital where he died.
Officials said the LPD Fatality Crash Investigators processed the scene for any evidence and they closed the intersection of 27th Street and Cornhusker for several hours overnight to do so. Officers are currently trying to notify the family of the man that died.
LPD said their condolences are with the family and those who knew him.
