YORK, Neb. -- A boy has died following a roof collapse at a hotel in southeast Nebraska.

York Police officers were called to the Hampton Inn in York Sunday day after receiving reports of a collapsed roof.

Upon arrival, responders were able to locate a boy who was trapped in the pool room beneath debris. He was declared dead at the scene. The boy was determined to be the only person trapped.

The name and age of the boy have not been released.

The State Fire Marshal's Office is assisting in the ongoing investigation.

According to York Police, a nearby Runza restaurant provided assistance and care for displaced hotel gusts. York PD also thanked York County Communications Center, York County Sheriff's Office, the Nebraska State Fire Marshal's Office, Nebraska Public Power District, Black Hills Energy, Hitz Towing, Mogul's Transmission & Towing, and hotel staff and management for their assistance on scene.
