LINCOLN, Neb. -- Officers in Lincoln were called to a weapons violation on Thursday at an apartment building on Knox Street.

The Lincoln Police Department said that around 3:00 p.m. on June 30, they were called to an apartment building in the 1800 block of Knox Street for a report of a weapons violation.

Officers said that when they made contact with the 56-year-old victim who reported his neighbor, 50-year-old John Golden, had kicked in his apartment door and was threatening him with a 6-inch Bowie knife.

LPD said that arriving officers found Golden outside the apartment building still holding the large knife.

It was reported that Golden dropped the knife after allegedly confronting the officers and fleeing back into his apartment.

Officers said they communicated with Golden through the police cruiser's PA system, and he eventually exited his residence and surrendered without further incident.

Golden was lodged in jail for terroristic threats, use of a weapon to commit a felony, and burglary.
